Mayor of Croydon agrees to Lib Dem request to try & reopen the Triangle Toilets

The Mayor of Croydon has agreed to a request from Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood Lib Dem Cllr Claire Bonham to try and reopen the public toilets on the Triangle.

The toilets are situated behind the Phoenix Neighbourhood Centre on Westow Street, close to Sainsburys, and were closed in 2023. Cllr Bonham raised the issue with the Mayor of Croydon at the Croydon Council meeting on Monday 20th July. 

Cllr Bonham said:

"I am pleased that the Mayor has agreed to my request to consider reopening the public toilets on Westow Street. A recent FOI by Age UK has shown that the council has opened no new public toilets and has closed two since 2013/14. The annual budget for cleaning public toilets is just £2,964.

This lack of provision has a particular impact on older people, disabled residents, people with health conditions, families with young children, and others who rely on accessible public facilities to participate fully in community life and support our local high streets.

"I welcome the Mayor’s commitment to trying to get the public toilet in Upper Norwood reopened, and I will be asking the Council for a meeting to discuss the Triangle toilets as quickly as possible".
