Claire Bonham

Standing as a Councillor in Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood

claire_crop.jpeg

I have lived in Crystal Palace for 4 years and in London for 6 years.  I have over 15 years’ experience working in the voluntary sector, championing the causes of children, the elderly and victims of crime, homelessness and poverty, around the world.  I am currently the strategic lead for volunteering for The Salvation Army across the UK and Ireland.

In my spare time I volunteer to support victims of human trafficking and sing with a London-based choir.  I enjoy baking and following most sports, and can often be found at The Oval during the cricket season or watching the football on a Saturday.

Some of you will remember me from the South Norwood by election:  I stood as the Lib Dem candidate, coming second in those districts which are moving into our new ward of Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood, where I live.

I am passionate about empowering and enabling communities to solve their own issues and believe in the power of volunteering to effect local change.  Labour have taken this area for granted for too long.  If elected, I will be a voice for the residents of Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood - I will work hard, collaboratively and with imagination to ensure that decisions are taken with real local input, delivering real local improvement in our services and environment.
